We got our skeleton itinerary planned over this past weekend and worked together pretty well. We both had the same "well, we'll see" reaction to news of the earthquake in NZ and when he suggested we may have to hitchhike at some point to get back to our camper from a hike I didn't even panic. Maybe we'll luck out and our only disagreement will be over whose music gets played while we drive. Oh, did I mention that they drive on the "other" side of the road in NZ and OZ and that our camper doesn't have power steering and does have a propane tank located right at the back hatch? Ha!
I still have no idea if I packed correctly or if I have too much or too little. I have everything from a bathingsuit to a winter hat, literally. I was proud (as a still recovering overpacker) that my brother and I packed the same amount of socks and underwear and both have mostly full 65 liter packs. My carry-on is heavy but that is due to books and a million chargers, oh, and Goldner Family trail mix (candy corn included). I really think I owe this newfound packing ability to my haircut and not requiring 3 different hair products to tame my mane. And maybe it's also about not really caring what I look (or smell?) like.
Ugh, so I almost didn't get to shower this a.m. I woke up, booked some Thanksgiving plane tickets, booked some OZ bus tickets and was just about to shower when the power went out. In NH that means no water pump and no shower. I didn't panic but I was pretty bummed. I'm fully ready to go without showers here and there on this trip (despite some person's assertion that I need a shower everyday!) but this a.m. I had big plans for my shower. Luckily the power came back just in time.
And that's all I've got for now. I already miss my friends and cats. I hope Minos and Wyatt take good care of them and the house. I also hope that my next stint in Philly is a little longer (it may have to be if Tim follows through with his threat to eat my passport). See ya on the blog soon!
